Early Life
I grew up in a small town about 60 miles south of St. Louis, MO known as Ste. Genevieve. I graduated from Ste. Genevieve High School in 2009 in the top 18% of my class. I was very involved in sports and clubs. I was on the track team for 4 years; also played softball and volleyball. I was involved in numerous clubs, including Student Council. I worked at the local McDonald's throughout high school. My senior year I also worked at a small pizza place on the weekends.
College
I attended Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, MO for one year before transferring to the University of Missouri - St. Louis. I joined the Delta Zeta sorority in the fall of 2010. I was honored with acceptance into five major honor societies on campus in my four years at UMSL. I will be graduating with my bachelor's of science in social studies education in May 2014.
Teaching career
I have worked as a substitute teacher since my sophomore year of college in three districts: Sainte Genevieve R-II, Windsor C-1, and Meramec Valley R-III. I have worked with Mr. Portell since August 2013 during my clinical experience. I am now teaching his world history class for the remainder of the 2013-2014 academic year for the completion of my clinical experience.
